Sources of Power
Journal of Power Sources is the journal for researchers and technologists interested in all aspects of the science, technology and applications of sources of electrochemical power. Journal of Power Sources publishes original research and reviews about the science and applications of primary and secondary batteries , fuel cells , supercapacitors and photo-electrochemical cells.
Topics considered include the research, development and applications of nanomaterials and novel componentry for these devices. Please click here for more information on our author services. Your Paper Your Way We now differentiate between the requirements for new and revised submissions.
You may choose to submit your manuscript as a single Word or PDF file to be used in the refereeing process. Only when your paper is at the revision stage, will you be requested to put your paper in to a 'correct format' for acceptance and provide the items required for the publication of your article. Types of papers The Journal of Power Sources considers the following types of papers for publication:. The number of figures is limited to 8 figures for Research Papers and Reviews, and to 5 figures for Perspectives. Additional figures may be uploaded as supplementary material. A Perspective is a personal view or commentary on a technology topic of recent interest or an analysis of a development field. Generally, a Perspective will offer a summary of past research followed by a critical assessment of current research and challenges.
Perspectives can be 2, to 4, words in length, contain figures, and references. Ideally Perspectives will help create new insights and stimulate debate. Perspectives are subject to the standard rigorous peer review of the journal. The entire submission and review process is handled online via:. Elsevier Researcher Academy Researcher Academy is a free e-learning platform designed to support early and mid-career researchers throughout their research journey. The "Learn" environment at Researcher Academy offers several interactive modules, webinars, downloadable guides and resources to guide you through the process of writing for research and going through peer review.
Feel free to use these free resources to improve your submission and navigate the publication process with ease. Language usage and editing services Please write your text in good English American or British usage is accepted, but not a mixture of these.
Authors who feel their English language manuscript may require editing to eliminate possible grammatical or spelling errors and to conform to correct scientific English may wish to use the English Language Editing service available from Elsevier's Author Services.

The system converts your article files to a single PDF file used in the peer-review process. Editable files e. All correspondence, including notification of the Editor's decision and requests for revision, is sent by e-mail. Referees The Editor first evaluates all manuscripts.
Those rejected at this stage are insufficiently original, have serious scientific flaws, have poor grammar or English language, or are outside the aims and scope of the journal. Those that meet the minimum criteria are passed on to two subject matter experts for review. Referees advise the editor, who is responsible for the final decision to accept or reject the article.
Please note: Editor's Decision is final. Revision time Should authors be requested by the editor to revise the text, the revised version should be submitted within 30 days. After this period, the article may be rejected. The system automatically converts your files to a single PDF file, which is used in the peer-review process.
As part of the Your Paper Your Way service, you may choose to submit your manuscript as a single file to be used in the refereeing process. This can be a PDF file or a Word document, in any format or lay-out that can be used by referees to evaluate your manuscript. It should contain high enough quality figures for refereeing.
If you prefer to do so, you may still provide all or some of the source files at the initial submission. Please note that individual figure files larger than 10 MB must be uploaded separately. References There are no strict requirements on reference formatting at submission. References can be in any style or format as long as the style is consistent. Use of DOI is highly encouraged. The reference style used by the journal will be applied to the accepted article by Elsevier at the proof stage.
Note that missing data will be highlighted at proof stage for the author to correct. Formatting requirements There are no strict formatting requirements but all manuscripts must contain the essential elements needed to convey your manuscript, for example Abstract, Keywords, Introduction, Materials and Methods, Results, Conclusions, Artwork and Tables with Captions. Divide the article into clearly defined sections. Please ensure the text of your paper is double-spaced— this is an essential peer review requirement.
Figures and tables embedded in text Please ensure the figures and the tables included in the single file are placed next to the relevant text in the manuscript, rather than at the bottom or the top of the file.
The corresponding caption should be placed directly below the figure or table. Peer review This journal operates a single anonymized review process. All contributions will be initially assessed by the editor for suitability for the journal. Papers deemed suitable are then typically sent to a minimum of two independent expert reviewers to assess the scientific quality of the paper. The Editor is responsible for the final decision regarding acceptance or rejection of articles.
The Editor's decision is final. Editors are not involved in decisions about papers which they have written themselves or have been written by family members or colleagues or which relate to products or services in which the editor has an interest. Any such submission is subject to all of the journal's usual procedures, with peer review handled independently of the relevant editor and their research groups.
More information on types of peer review. Use of word processing software Regardless of the file format of the original submission, at revision you must provide us with an editable file of the entire article.
Keep the layout of the text as simple as possible. Most formatting codes will be removed and replaced on processing the article. The electronic text should be prepared in a way very similar to that of conventional manuscripts see also the Guide to Publishing with Elsevier.

Wireless sensor networks are poised to become a very significant enabling technology in many sectors. Already a few very low power wireless sensor platforms have entered the marketplace. Almost all of these platforms are designed to run on batteries that have a very limited lifetime. In order for wireless sensor networks to become a ubiquitous part of our environment, alternative power sources must be employed. This paper reviews many potential power sources for wireless sensor nodes. Well established power sources, such as batteries, are reviewed along with emerging technologies and currently untapped sources. Power sources are classified as energy reservoirs, power distribution methods, or power scavenging methods, which enable wireless nodes to be completely self-sustaining.

Sources of power: how people make decisions
Anyone who watches the television news has seen images of firefighters rescuing people from burning buildings and paramedics treating bombing victims. How do these individuals make the split-second decisions that save lives? Most studies of decision making, based on artificial tasks assigned in laboratory settings, view people as biased and unskilled.
Power is the ability to influence the behavior of others. It is interesting to understand and observe the use of power in an organization.
What are the 7 Sources of Power?
But Dr. Klein, a cognitive psychologist, spent a decade watching fire commanders, fighter pilots, paramedics and others making split-second decisions on the job, and this book is a clear and engaging account of his findings. How do these individuals make the split-second decisions that save lives? Most studies of decision making, based on artificial tasks assigned in laboratory settings, view people as biased and unskilled. Gary Klein is one of the developers of the naturalistic decision making approach, which views people as inherently skilled and experienced.
