Students in classrooms or training courses may be distracted. They have other considerations running through their minds, such as their other classes, personal lives, friendships, hobbies, physical distractions like hunger or tiredness, and so much more. When students are sidetracked by these or any other issues, their own education and accomplishment may be prioritized below their more immediate needs. Why is this?
It is often applied to the workplace as a means to determine how to more effectively motivate employees and make sure their needs are met. Understanding this hierarchy can help you determine whether your needs are met in your workplace and how you can better meet the needs of your team. Within each level are specific needs that allow for an individual to feel fulfilled. The hierarchy is often depicted as a pyramid to represent the need to fulfill the lower levels before an individual can move up to the next level.
What motivates human behavior? This hierarchy suggests that people are motivated to fulfill basic needs before moving on to other, more advanced needs. Maslow's hierarchy is most often displayed as a pyramid. The lowest levels of the pyramid are made up of the most basic needs, while the most complex needs are at the top of the pyramid.
